I took a long route into teaching. After graduating from NMU, I worked as a substitute teacher and Title I assistant. I then ran a bakery, and worked in youth ministry. I have been a teacher in a multi-grade level classroom school (K-6), a 6th grade teacher, a preKthrough high school teacher through youth ministry, and am now a 4th grade teacher at the U.
Our daughter Emma is at NMU studying pre-med. Harrison is also at NMU studying communications. Anna is attending the U for her final year next year as a 5th grader, before moving on to the Jr./Sr. High school building.
In my "off" time, I love to read and finish home projects - including some furniture and home "flips," and I LOVE to kayak. As a family we like to bike ride, play games, and get together with friends and extended family.
