Book Club

Book Club!

What is book club? As a group, we all read the same book.  You will read to yourself, sometimes I will read aloud, or there may be an audio version available as you follow along, and sometimes you will read aloud to me.  We will discuss the book and do a project that goes along with it.  Scroll below to see some of the books I have done in the past.

"Gregor the Overlander" by Suzanne Collins
We will read this book for book club while we wait for "Front Desk" to come in. This is an exciting action/adventure about an 11 year-old boy and his 2 year-old sister.

In the videos below, I present my kindle ebook. As you read, press play to turn the pages, or pause to stay where you are. The bottom link is for the audio book. It is for a 30-day free trial of the audiobooks.com site. I hope you enjoy the book - it is an exciting action/adventure novel that I personally loved.

BOOK CLUB 4.23.20... (NEW BOOK - COMING TO YOU SOON!)
Thanks for joining me at our book club meet today!! A few notes:
* We had several Q&A and the kids earned tickets into a drawing... CONGRATULATIONS - MAGGIE! Maggie is our prize winner for this weeks' book club prize! I will be sending out her prize tomorrow!!
* Our SURPRISE! was that I have ordered every student a copy of the new book, "Front Desk," written by Kelly Yang. I am waiting on tracking info for this and will let you know how I will get these to you - (more than likely, I will have them with your student's desk supply pick-up in the first week of May.)
* This story is based on author Kelly's experiences as a 10 year-old Chinese immigrant running the front desk of her family's new motel where they lived. The author went on to enter college at only 13! She went to law school and later became a writing teacher. It should be a fun book to read together.

In our first meeting, we learned how to use Get Epic!, and we began reading, “A Boy Called Bat.“ In between book club dates, I will record a read aloud of the book and the kids are encouraged to follow along. They can use this as their student choice reading time if they would like, or in addition to their daily 30 minutes. At our next book club meeting, we will have a chance to be introduced to a new book and author and I will have a surprise for everyone!
